A record 62,938 tonnes arrived from outside the bloc in the first five months of 2026, drawn from California's record 2025 harvest. The 2026 crop reaches European buyers from about November.

Industry estimates put the harvest at 600mn to 900mn lb against last year's record 1.6bn lb. Wonderful Pistachios, about 60 per cent of the market, sits at the pessimistic end of the range.

Production in the 2025/26 season is forecast at just 120,000 tonnes, down from last year's record 385,000 tonnes
